Twining is an ancient basketry technique, possibly as old as 2 million years.

In this workshop, I will introduce the basketry technique of twining as a method of creating contemporary woven sculptural forms. We will utilize both waxed linen as well as reed and will cover several different ways of starting pieces. I will teach you many techniques, such as joining and splitting forms, that will allow you to invent your own shapes.

In this busy five-day workshop, I will introduce the off-loom weaving technique of twining as a method of creating contemporary sculptural woven forms. We will utilize both waxed linen as well as reed and will cover several different ways of starting pieces. I will teach you how to turn, split and join forms, giving you lots of methods for inventing your own shapes. Most of all, we will have fun creating new forms with this pre-historic basketry technique.
